Professor Hassan Barakat is a Professor of Human Nutrition “Functional Foods and Nutrition” at the Food Sciences and Human Nutrition Department, College of Agriculture and Food, Qassim University, Saudi Arabia. He is also a Food Science and Technology Professor at the Food Technology Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Benha University, Egypt. He completed his Ph.D. studies in a bilateral program between Benha University, Egypt, and the Technical University, Germany 2010. He has participated in many research projects, either local or international. He has published more than 100 articles in various high-ranked journals, and he has also published seven books and two book chapters. During his academic career, he was awarded the "Best Ph.D." award in 2012, the University Encouragement Award for Best Research in 2015, and the Research Excellence Award for Faculty Members, “Diamond Level,” in 2022. His teaching disciplines include meal planning, nutrition during the life cycle, nutritional status assessment, and functional foods, and his interests include functional and therapeutic food applications, applied nutrition, and dietetics.
