Lucca Madeo Cortarelli received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology from the University of Kentucky in 2023, and is now pursuing a PhD in Integrated Plant and Soil Sciences (Environmental Science and Ecosystem Ecology) under the supervision of Dr. Olga Tsyusko. The focus of his research is on the toxicity assessment of emerging contaminants including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), as well as utilizing a Safe(r)-By-Design approach for the development of membrane-based methods for contaminant remediation.
