Author Biographies

Dr. Igor V. Pogorelsky earned his Ph.D. from the P.N. Lebedev Institute in Russia. After immigrating to the United States, he began his career at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in 1990 with a guest appointment at the Accelerator Test Facility (ATF). He joined the BNL scientific staff in 1993, was promoted to physicist in 1999, and has held a continuing appointment since 2000. In 2012, Dr. Pogorelsky was awarded tenure for his significant contributions to laser and accelerator science and his role in establishing the ATF as a premier U.S. user facility for advanced accelerator research and development. Currently, he is developing a new class of ultra-fast lasers to advance strong-field physics research in the Long-Wave Infrared spectral domain.
