Dr. Athanasios Kyrgidis is a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). He earned his Medicine (2002) and Dentistry (2009) degrees from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and he also received a postgraduate diploma in Medical Research Methodology (2008). He completed training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (2005–2011) and specialized in Emergency Pre-Hospital Medicine (2011). He served as a reserve doctor in the Greek Army (2003-2004). He received Postdoctoral Fellowships from AUTh (2014) studying maxillofacial trauma, and from the State Scholarship Foundation (2015–2016) researching immune cells in bisphosphonate patients. From 2013–2018, he was a clinical research fellow in Italy, focusing on skin cancer. He’s a Research Associate at AUTh’s ENT Clinic, Pharmacology Lab, and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic (2013–present) and an academic fellow in Pharmacology (2017–2020). Since 2020, he has been a Consultant at G. Papanikolaou Hospital. He is also Secretary for Continuing Education at HAOMS and Editor-In-Chief of the HAOMS Journal. His research focuses on disease classification criteria and clinical guidelines for various conditions.
