Dr. Jafar Zanganeh completed his PhD in Fire and Explosion Safety in the Discipline of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at The University of Newcastle (UON). He commenced his academic career as a research associate to work on renewable energy research projects in the “Advanced Technology Centre” at UON. In 2013, he was appointed as the Project Manager for a USD 25M Commonwealth-funded flagship project on “Ventilation Air Methane Abatement”. Currently, he is working as a senior research associate at the University’s Priority Research Centre for Frontier Energy Technologies and Utilisation (PRC-FETU). His principal area of expertise and research interests are focused on practical technology, combustion, fire and explosion safety, fluid mechanics, and project management.
Prof. Behdad Moghtaderi is a professor of Chemical Engineering and Director of the Centre for Innovative Energy Technologies at the University of Newcastle (Australia). He received his PhD and MES degrees from the University of Sydney in 1997 and 1994, respectively, and his BSc from Shiraz University in 1989. He served as the Honorary Secretary of The Australian and New Zealand Section of the Combustion Institute between 2007 and 2010. The underlying theme of Behdad’s research is “Thermo-Fluid Engineering”, encompassing applications in the general fields of Energy, Safety, and the Environment. Behdad has published more than 450 scholarly articles (H-Index 60), authored three books, and holds six patents. He has attracted more than 96 million USD in research funding and has supervised 55 PhD projects to completion.
