Francesco Buccafurri is a full professor of computer science at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria, Italy. In 1995 he took the PhD degree in computer science at the University of Calabria. In 1996 he was a visiting researcher at the database and knowledge representation group of Vienna University of Technology. His research interests include cybersecurity and privacy, social networks, deductive-databases, knowledge-representation and non-monotonic reasoning, model checking, data compression, data streams, agents, P2P systems. He has published over than 200 papers in top-level international journals and conference proceedings. He serves as a referee for international journals, and he is a member of a number of conference PCs. Francesco Buccafurri is Associate Editor of Information Sciences (Elsevier) and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, he is included in the editorial board of a number of other international journals and played the role of PC chair and PC member in many international conferences. He is a senior member of the IEEE computer society.
Aurelio Loris Canino is a PhD student at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria. He has a strong background in telecommunications engineering, with a focus on cybersecurity. He has experience in penetration testing, network security, and digital forensics. During his career, he has gained industry experience as a Software and TELCO Engineer, where he contributed to developing solutions for network and system security.
Vincenzo De Angelis is an Assistant Professor at the University of Calabria, Italy. In
2023, he obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Reggio Calabria. His
research interests include IoT security, blockchain, cloud computing,
and applied cryptography. He is the author of more than 35 papers
published in international journals and conference proceedings. He
serves as a Program Committee (PC) member for several conferences and as
a Guest Editor for a special issue of the journal Information Sciences.
Additionally, he is a member of the editorial board of the journal
Online Social Networks and Media.
Annunziata Laurenda graduated in Computer Science and Telecommunication
System Engineering in 2021. She is based in Milan, Italy, and holds
the position of Software and TELCO Engineer at bitCorp, an Italian
company specializing in cybersecurity
and cyber intelligence. She is a Ph.D. student at the
University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria since January 2023, working
on distributed Intrusion Detection Systems based on the Federated
Learning paradigm. In bitCorp, she works every day
as Blue Team Leader, supervising a crew of specialists operating in the
cybersecurity field. Moreover, she is involved in the development
of systems and methodologies for defense against cyber attacks of the
modular intrusion prevention detection system
called ZADIG.
Gianluca Lax is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria, Italy. In 2005, he received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Calabria. In 2018, he received a habilitation as a Full Professor of Computer Science. Since 2017, Gianluca Lax is the Chair of the International Workshop on Frontiers in Availability, Reliability and Security (FARES). From 2018 to 2024, he was the Coordinator of a master’s degree course in Information Technologies for Telecommunications Engineering. His research interests include privacy, information security, deep learning, and social network analysis. He is the author of more than 150 papers published in leading international journals and conference proceedings.
