Dr. Christos Kastrisios is a Research Associate Professor with the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping of the University of New Hampshire, USA. He holds a B.Sc. in Naval Science from the Hellenic Naval Academy, Greece, post-graduate diplomas in Hydrographic Management and Engineering from the US Navy, USA, and in Naval Science and Strategy from the Hellenic Naval War College, Greece, a master’s degree in Geospatial Information Sciences from the University of Maryland at College Park, USA, and a Ph.D. in Cartography from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Dr. Kastrisios has many years of experience in the use of nautical charts and publications as a professional mariner on board frigate and submarines, as well as their production as a member of the Hellenic Navy Hydrographic Service, the official national charting authority of Greece. His research interests lie in computational cartography and cartographic visualization and particularly maritime limit delimitation and data generalization, visualization, and topology on nautical charts. The findings of his research efforts have been incorporated in the workflows of national nautical charting authorities as well as published standards of the International Hydrographic Organization.
