Author Biographies

Yingying Pan is a PhD candidate in the Department of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). She is one of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) award winners. She has completed her Master of Arts in Music and Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She has obtained the Orff Music Course Tutor certificate and has previously worked in preschools, music studios, and colleges in the area of early childhood music education. She is currently an Editorial Assistant of The Journal for the Study of Education and Development (JSED). Her research interest falls in the area of early childhood music education, including music pedagogies, music teaching and learning, and children’s music experiences at school and at home.
Alfredo Bautista (The Education University of Hong Kong). Associate Professor and Associate Head of the Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE) at The Education University of Hong Kong. He has conducted educational research in countries around the world (Spain, Argentina, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong/China). Dr. Bautista currently leads several research and development projects focusing on early childhood education curriculum, pedagogy, teacher education, and professional development. Much of this prior research work has focused on music and arts education, creativity, and play. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for the Study of Education and Development and serves as Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member for other peer-reviewed international journals.
Siu-hang Kong (The Education University of Hong Kong). Assistant Professor of Music Education at the Education University of Hong Kong. His research interests encompass various areas, such as music in early childhood education, teacher education, the sociology and psychology of music education, and comparative education. He has authored a book titled “Cultural Capital and Parental Involvement: A Comparison of Students’ Music Participation between Beijing and Hong Kong”, in addition to contributing papers to refereed journals and peer-reviewed academic book chapters. Siu-hang's practical experience in music education serves as a foundation for his research, which seeks to advance the understanding and practice of music education.
