Dr. Badri Bhakta Shrestha is a Research Specialist at the Water-related Hazard Research Group, International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHARM), Public Works Research Institute in Japan. He completed his BE studies in Civil Engineering at the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2001, MSc studies in Water Resources Engineering at the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2004, and PhD studies in Civil and Earth Resources Engineering at the Kyoto University, Japan in 2009. His research interests include developing methods for assessing the risk of water-related disasters, including damage estimation methods, focusing on the agricultural sector and residential areas, prediction, prevention, and mitigation of water-related disasters, such as floods, debris flows, and landslides.
Dr. Mohamed Rasmy is a Senior Researcher at the International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHARM), Public Works Research Institute, Tsukuba, Japan, and an Adjunct Professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan. He completed his BSc studies in Engineering with first-class honors at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2002, MSc studies in Engineering at the University of Tokyo, Japan in 2006, and PhD studies in Civil Engineering at the University of Tokyo, Japan in 2010. His research interests include hydrological modeling and prediction, satellite remote sensing, water resources management, weather and climate predictions, and satellite data assimilation methods.
