Author Biographies

Dr. Marco Antonio Montoya is a Senior Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Passo Fundo (UPF). He completed his PhD in Applied Economics at the University of São Paulo (USP) and was awarded Best Doctoral Thesis in Applied Economics by the Brazilian Society of Rural Economy. He recently led a project on digital data science. He has published over a hundred books, chapters, and papers in various journals. He serves as the CEO of Data Research Insights (DRI) and as a researcher on multiple projects at the Research Group of Bioeconomics Applied to Agribusiness. His teaching disciplines include macroeconomics, microeconomics, agribusiness, investment assessment, regional economy, and public sector economics, and his interests include quantitative methods, input–output modeling, and social and environmental assessment.
Gabriela Allegretti obtained her degree in Veterinary Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) in 1998 and a doctorate in Agribusiness from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFGRS) in 2017. Since 2022, she has been a professor at the University of Rio Verde - GO (UniRV) and, since 2018, scientific director at the Brazilian Institute of Bioeconomics. Her research topics include bioeconomics, carbon and water footprints, emergy assessment, agribusiness, and sustainability.
Dr. Elen Presotto is a Professor at the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine/Agribusiness Management Program, University of Brasília. She completed her PhD in Agribusiness at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. She recently led the project 'Perception of the Importance of Skills Perceived in Agribusiness'. She has published 11 papers in various journals and has also contributed to research projects such as 'Perspectives in Macroeconomics from Bioeconomic and Biophysical Bioeconomy Values' and 'Bioeconomy in Agribusiness: Exchange Relations in Monetary and Energy Values'. Her teaching disciplines include international trade and quantitative methods applied to agribusiness, and her interests include ecological economics, the bioeconomy, the ecological input–output model, emergy analysis, and ecological macroeconomics.
Dr. Edson Talamini is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and International Relations, Faculty of Economics, and Interdisciplinary Center for Studies and Research in Agribusiness (CEPAN), Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He completed his PhD in Agribusiness at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul and is a CNPq research fellow. He leads the Research Group on Bioeconomics Applied to Agribusiness (https://www.ufrgs.br/bioeconomia/), developing projects on bioeconomy and bioeconomics. He has published about a hundred papers in various journals and serves as a Guest Editor for Sustainability and Section Editor of Heliyon. His teaching disciplines include macroeconomics and bioeconomics, and his interests include bioeconomy, bioeconomics, agribusiness, sustainability, food systems, natural resources, and environmental analysis.
