Dr. Elisa Ercolessi has served as an Associate Professor of Theoretical Physics, Mathematical Models and Methods at the Department of Physics and Astronomy since 2005. After graduating in Physics from the University of Bologna, she obtained a PhD in Physics from Syracuse University (NY, USA). She carries out research in the field of quantum statistical mechanics, studying, in collaboration with various national and international research groups, models of low-dimensional many-particle systems, which exhibit topological and exotic phases of matter, and the theory of information and quantum computation. She has interests in the dissemination and teaching of modern physics at the high school level, in particular quantum mechanics.
