Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Jerasa is an assistant professor of literacy in the Department of Education and Human Development at Clemson University. She obtained her BA in history and her M.A.T. in elementary education from the University of Virginia in 2006. She earned her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in literacy from the University of Houston in 2023. She has served as a National Writing Project fellow and professional development writing coach for Writers in the Schools in Houston, TX. As a former elementary classroom teacher, her research interests focus on teacher identity as writers, equitable literacy access, and the reading and writing connection in classrooms. Her scholarship explores intersections of digital literacies in social media, motivation, equitable literacy access, and reading and writing instruction. Her most recent research revolves around exploring digital platforms and the community and identity development that is shaped, particularly within TikTok.
