Prof.
Abdel-Fattah El-Sayed, Egyptian, received his PhD degree in Aquaculture Nutrition from
Michigan State University, USA. He is a professor at the Oceanography
Department, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University. He authored and
co-authored over 150 papers on aquaculture and fisheries, in addition to 4
books, 8 book chapters and several technical reports. He also served as a visiting professor/researcher in scientific institutions in Japan, Spain, Malaysia,
United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar. Prof. El Sayed is also a consultant for several international
organizations, including the FAO, the World Fisheries
Trust, WorldFish, the African Union, and the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development. He is also a member of the editorial board and is academic
editor for a number of regional and international aquaculture and fisheries journals,
including Aquaculture Research, International Aquafeeds, the Egyptian Journal of
Aquatic Research, and the Alexandria Journal of Science and Technology. Prof.
El-Sayed was awarded the following prizes: Honorary Life
Member of the World Aquaculture Society; the Alexandria University Incentive
Award in Science in 1996; the Excellence Award in Science in 2015; the Discretionary
Award in Science in 2011 and the Rashid Bin Humaid (Late Emir of Ajman, UAE) Award in
Science in 2002. He has also been selected among the best 2% of the world’s
Scientists in the list issued by Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier from
2020 until now.
