Prof. Alicja Wiercińska-Drapało worked at the Infectious Diseases Clinic in Białystok, obtaining successive degrees of professional and scientific advancement from 1990 to 2008. Then, since 2008, she has been the head of the Infectious, Tropical Diseases and Hepatology Clinic of the Medical University of Warsaw and the Head of Department X of the Provincial Infectious Diseases Hospital. Her scientific and professional interests focus on the issues of HIV/AIDS with particular emphasis on pathogenesis, antiretroviral treatment, organ complications, and co-infections of HIV and HCV, HBV. For many years, she has been a member of the Board of the Polish AIDS Scientific Society; for 8 years, she was the Editor-in-Chief of the HIV/AIDS Review journal. Currently, she is the Vice Editor; for 10 years, she has been a Vice President of the Polish AIDS Scientific Society. She is one of the experts developing recommendations for the care of HIV-infected people.
