Prof. Dr. Stefano
Vanin is currently working as a Professor of Zoology (DISTAV) at the University
of Genoa. In 2011, he moved to the UK, at the University of Huddersfield as a Senior
Lecturer first, and later in 2013 as a Reader in Forensic Biology teaching Forensic
Entomology and other disciplines related to Forensic and Biological Sciences.
At the International level, he lectured in Cameroon, Tunisia and Bahrain. He
acted as a“Visiting Professor” at the University of Modena Reggio Emilia first
and later at the University of Sassari (Italy). In 1996, he was awarded an MSc
in Biological Sciences at the University of Padua (Italy), and in 2001, at the
same University, he earned a PhD in Evolutionary Biology. Since 1997, Prof.
Vanin has focused his attention on the Forensic Entomology field in terms of
research, as well as working on national forensic cases. Moreover, in recent
years, he expanded his attention on Funerary Archaeoentomology but also carried
on his studies on insect chronobiology. Prof. Vanin has been the President of
the European Association for Forensic Entomology (EAFE) and President of the
Italian Group of Forensic Entomology (GIEF), and he is a member and fellow of
several national and international Societies and Associations, such as The
Società Entomologica Italiana, the Royal Entomological Society and the Linnean
Society of London.
