Neo Molatela Mirriam Sehlapelo obtained a Masters of Public Health from the University of Johannesburg and has a diverse educational background from three faculties: the faculty of education, health science, and sciences. Her work experience includes facilitating ecological education and awareness campaigns, occupational health promotion, scientific material development, and conducting research and technical scientific analysis. During her career, Ms. Sehlapelo undertook project planning and ensured adherence to environmental management best practices across various projects including tree planting, waste management and innovation, eradication of alien invasive species, water conservation, the establishment and maintenance of organic vegetable gardens, and overall, the implementation of climate change interventions. She has experience working for both the government and private sector. Her professional memberships include the Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IWMSA), the South African Council for Educators (SACE) and the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).
Dr. Nonhlanhla Tlotleng is an Occupational Health Research Specialist within the
Centre of Excellence at the Mine Health and Safety Council. She has worked at the
National Institute for Occupational Health (NIOH) as a Senior Epidemiologist from
2015 - 2024, where she focused on exposures for occupation-related cancers, and
improving disease surveillance in workplaces. Dr. Tlotleng is a National Research
Foundation (NRF) rated Public Health Researcher and an Epidemiologist with over ten
years of research experience in Occupational Health. She has published widely in
Occupational Health and Epidemiology, including reviews and books pertaining to
workplace hazards and their adverse health effects. She is a member of the editorial
board for several peer-reviewed journals serving as a reviewer and an Academic Editor.
Affiliated with several universities, Dr. Tlotleng is involved in the teaching and supervision of
postgraduate students in Public Health. She holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Masters in
Biotechnology from the University of Johannesburg, and she further completed an MSc
degree in Epidemiology and a PhD, both from the University of the Witwatersrand.
