Author Biographies

Giovanni Paolo Colucci started to work in the software field at the age of 16 in different projects related to the development of the web 2.0 and specialized collaborative platforms. Subsequently, in 2013, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering and later, in 2016, a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering. After graduation, he worked as a research fellow in the iXemLabs in the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication of the Politecnico di Torino. Recently, in late 2023, he enrolled as a PhD student in Electrical, Electronics And Communications Engineering, working mainly in the fields of Internet of Things, machine learning, and big data.
Paola Battilani is a Full Professor in Plant Pathology at the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, Università Cattolica del S. Cuore in Piacenza. Her research interests lie in the ecology of fungi, with a focus on mycotoxin-producing fungi and the development of mechanistic models for predicting fungal impact on hostcrops and mycotoxin production. She has developed decision support systems for sustainable plant disease and mycotoxin management to deliver useful tools for stakeholders. She is one of the founders of the International Society of Mycotoxicology and the president of the Italian Society of Plant Pathology.

Daniele Trinchero received his Master’s and PhD degrees in Electronic Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 1993 and 1997, respectively. He has been with the Politecnico di Torino since 1997, where he is currently responsible for the iXem Labs laboratory. Between 2009 and 2015, he was a Visiting Professor at the Qatar University in Doha, Qatar. Since 2013, he has been a Visiting Professor at Esigelec, Rouen (FR). His research interests include the Internet of Things, wireless networks, machine-to-machine networks, LP-WANs, sensors and sensor networks, RFIDs, antennas, electromagnetic field measurements, microwave circuits, information technology and technologies for agriculture, and smart farming. He currently teaches courses on wireless technologies for the Internet of Things, wireless networks, and electromagnetic fields. In 2014, he founded Senza Fili Senza Confini, the first non-profit association registered as an Internet operator in Italy. He is a senior member of the IEEE and an honorary citizen of the Municipalities of Cavagnolo and Grana Monferrato.
