Joji M. Otaki is a professor in the Department of Chemistry, Biology and Marine Science, Faculty of Science, University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan. He completed his PhD in the Department of Biological Sciences, Columbia University in New York, USA. He was awarded the Zoological Science Award and the Fujii Award from the Zoological Society of Japan.
