Dr. Giorgos Stavrianakis is an agronomist and a graduate of the Agricultural University of Athens (2012). After his
postgraduate studies in the field of “Agriculture, Plant Improvement & Agricultural Experimentation” at the same university, he obtained a PhD at the University of the Aegean on “Understorey Biodiversity Management in Olive Groves for Integrated Management of Olive Tree Natural Enemies” (2023). He has worked as a researcher since 2020 in national and European projects that aim to enhance biodiversity and protect the natural and rural landscape. His research interests are in agroecology, entomology and sustainable olive cultivation with environmentally friendly practices.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Tscheulin, with a PhD in Population Ecology from Imperial College London, is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of the Aegean, Greece. He has a strong track record of collaborative research, both within and between host institutions, in several European countries. His main research interest is in relating assessments of the abundance, diversity, functional structure and trophic interactions of invertebrates to the impacts of ecosystem disturbances such as agricultural
practices, alien species invasion, climate change, wildfires, habitat loss and degradation. He is an associate editor for Animal Conservation and a review editor for Sustainable Intensification and Ecosystem Services and so far has published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers and several book chapters.
Prof. Dr. Thanasis Kizos has been a Professor in “Rural Geography” in the Department of Geography, the University of the Aegean, since 2005 and the Head of the Department since 2019. He holds a bachelor's degree in Agronomy from the Department of Agronomy of the School of Geotechnical Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Ph.D. in Environmental Management and Policy from the Department of Environmental Studies of the University of the Aegean. Thanasis conducts research on geography, food science and environmental science. A recent project he participated in was soil-o-live, and previous projects he has worked on have been Terra Lemnia and Terracescape.
