Hongbing Wang is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. He joined the School of Pharmacy in 2006 after receiving his Doctorate in environmental toxicology from Fudan University in Shanghai, China, and working at the University of North Carolina’s Eshelman School of Pharmacy. As chair of Experimental and Translational Therapeutics, he leads a program that aims to optimize drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and the therapeutic efficacy of drugs through a combined strategy that integrates experimental and translational therapeutic approaches. His research interests focus primarily on the influence of drugs and genetic factors on the expression of metabolizing and detoxifying enzymes and drug transporters in humans and the early prediction of metabolism-associated drug interactions.
