Dr. Kristin A Waite is a classically trained biochemist with
training and laboratory experience in cellular signaling, lipid metabolism,
molecular oncology, proteomics and genomics. She has extensive experience and
knowledge of program management through scientific editing and grant
application preparation and submission. After doing bench research in lipid
signal transduction and cancer genetics, she moved to program administration
with the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, actively working with two successful
P30 renewals. She returned to research in 2018 working with Jill
Barnholtz-Sloan’s group and now focuses on the epidemiology and etiology of
brain tumors. She currently is a contractor at the National Cancer Institute
(NCI) in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) as a Staff
Scientist with the Barnholtz-Sloan group investigating the descriptive
epidemiology studies and etiologic investigations of brain tumors.
Dr. Sarah S. Jackson earned her PhD in epidemiology at the
University of Maryland, Baltimore. In addition, she has been a postdoctoral
fellow at the National Cancer Institute in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology
and Genetics (DCEG) since May 2018. She has a background in public health, with
experience in the DC Department of Health, Whitman-Walker Health, and the AIDS
Clinical Trials Group. In DCEG, Dr. Sarah S. Jackson’s research focuses on
methods for enumerating gender minority populations to describe health
disparities in cancer burden in this population. Her primary research program
focuses on the cancer continuum among gender-minority adults. Secondarily, she
is interested in examining sex differences (e.g., differences in hormones,
chromosomes, and immune response) in the cancer incidence of non-sex-specific
cancers.
