Han Zhao received his Ph.D. degree in genetics and breeding
from Michigan State University in 2006 and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at
the University of Illinois. He was recruited by Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural
Sciences in 2010 and is currently the director of the Institute of Germplasm
Resources and Biotechnology, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the
director of the Molecular Breeding Laboratory, and a postdoctoral supervisor at
the Postdoctoral Station of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He is
mainly engaged in crop molecular biology and bioinformatics research, and he has
carried out a lot of work in maize genome big data analysis, next-generation
sequencing data bioinformatics, and molecular marker development. He has
presided over and participated in many projects, such as the National Key
R&D Program, the National Transgenic Special Project, and the National
Natural Science Foundation; published more than 45 papers, including SCI;
applied for nearly 22 patents and software copyrights; and authorized 15. He
won the third prize of Jiangsu Science and Technology Award for the innovation
of high-quality and characteristic fresh corn germplasm and the selection and
application of new varieties in 2021, and the first prize of Jiangsu
Agricultural Science and Technology Award for the selection and breeding of new
varieties of high-quality and characteristic fresh corn and the integrated
application of green and efficient technologies in 2020.
