Maria Emanuela Mihailov, with expertise in ocean dynamics and the Black Sea, earned her BS (2002) and PhD (2013) in Physics from the University of Bucharest. Her work at the Maritime Hydrographic Directorate's Research Center focuses on ocean–atmosphere interactions, climate change impacts, and underwater noise pollution. Mihailov has authored 68 publications, including studies on Black Sea upwelling, wave modeling, AI /ML in oceanography, and the effects of climate change on the region. She actively contributes to international projects like CLIMARCSEC, focusing on Arctic security. Mihailov started her career as researcher at the National Institute for Marine Research "Grigore Antipa" and her interests encompass ocean dynamics, air–sea interactions, and the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems.
