Steven R. Fassnacht holds a PhD in Civil
Engineering from
the University of Waterloo. He is currently a Full Professor of
Snow Hydrology
with the Watershed Science program at Colorado State University,
where he has
been since 2002. In October 2022, he was a short-term fellow with
the Japanese
Society for the Promotion of Science, working with the Japan
Agency for
Marine-Earth Science and Technology in Yokohama. In October 2023,
he was a
Fulbright Global Scholar visiting Professor at Universidad de
Playa Ancha in Valparaíso
Chile. From October 2023 through March 2024, he was a Fulbright
Global Scholar visiting
Scientist with Instituto Geológico y Minero de España in Granada
Spain. His
research focuses on improving measurements and model formulation
of snowpack properties
for enhancing water management. He has been working to integrate
social and environmental
information, as well as historical literature, with hydrological
datasets. He
is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Glacies. He is a past of the Eastern Snow Conference
and the 2008
recipient of the Eastern Snow Conference SnoFoo Award.
