Elham Abbas Aljaaly, PhD, RD, is an associate professor at the Clinical Nutrition Department at King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia, and a consultant in clinical nutrition. She is the first Saudi clinical dietitian; she holds an M.Sc. in human nutrition from the University of Sheffield, UK; and she holds a PhD in community nutrition, media nutrition, and international environmental health and development from University College London, UK. She shaped and headed the nutrition and dietetic department at the university hospital and the second academic program at KAU. She also held leadership roles as the Vice Dean for the Female Section at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences and as Chairperson of the Commission for National and International Academic Accreditation Program. She is an active member of various professional organizations and editorial boards and contributes to advancing the field of nutrition and dietetics globally. With a passion for advocating for her profession, she has published an international book and was the main editor of “Cases on Medical Nutrition Therapy for Gastrointestinal Disorders.” She has also published a chapter in a book detailing her journey as the first Saudi clinical dietitian and the development of dietetics education and practice in Saudi Arabia. Her dedication to advancing the field and promoting excellence in nutrition and dietetics continues to inspire colleagues and students.
