Dr. André Luiz Missio is a professor of the Materials
Engineering Course at the Technological Development Center (CDTec) at the
Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). An Industrial Lumber Engineer, he
graduated from the Federal University of Pelotas (2012) and holds a Master’s
degree (2014) and a doctorate (2017) in Forestry Engineering from the Federal
University of Santa Maria in the area of Forest Products Technology. He held a
doctoral position at the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, Austria, and a
postdoctoral internship at the Aalto University in Finland in the Department of
Bioproducts and Biosystems (BiCMat). Currently, he is linked to the Graduate
Programs in Materials Science and Engineering (PPGCEM) and Environmental
Sciences (PPGCAmb) at UFPel, conducting research and working on projects in the
area of new sustainable materials, with an emphasis on tannins, nitrocellulose,
separation, and purification of lignocellulosic materials and polymeric
composites.
Dr. Fernando Machado Machado is an academic and researcher, specializing in materials science and engineering. His academic journey commenced with a B.Sc. in Physics from Franciscan University (Santa Maria, Brazil, 2001-2005). Subsequently, he pursued a B.Sc. in Materials Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre, Brazil, 2007-2011). He obtained his Ph.D. at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2008–2012). Dr. Machado is a professor at the Federal University of Pelotas (Pelotas, Brazil). His research interests include materials synthesis and characterization, nanomaterials, carbon-based nanomaterials, activated carbon, adsorption, biosorbents, recycling, and the reuse of materials.
Robson Andreazza currently works at the
Environmental Sciences Postgraduate Program, Center of Engineering, Federal
University of Pelotas. Pelotas, Brazil. He graduated from the Federal
University of Santa Maria in 2004. He received his M.Sc. in Solo Science from
the Federal University of Santa Maria in 2006 and his Ph.D. in Soil Science
from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, with a Sanduiche Doctorate received in
Auburn (USA) in 2009. He is a permanent professor of PPG in Environmental
Sciences, PPG in Territorial Development and Agroindustrial Systems (UFPel), and
PPG in Materials Sciences and Engineering (UFPel). His research interests
include agronomy and environmental engineering, with an emphasis on soil
microbiology and applied microbiology, environmental analysis, and the
bioremediation of environments contaminated with metals. He also has experience
in soils in the process of degradation, mycorrhizal, and soil ecology. He also
works with developing techniques and processes for environmental management
and waste treatment.
