Author Biographies

Dr Md. Abdus Shahid graduated from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh with a B.Sc. in Textile Engineering in 1998. In 2012, he earned a Ph.D in Physics from Jahangirnagar University, Savar Dhaka 1342. He also earned PGD in Management and MBA from the Bangladesh Open University in 2003 and 2007, respectively. He has more than 7 years of industrial experience and 18 years of research & teaching experience. He currently works as a Professor in the Department of TE, DUET, Bangladesh. Dr Shahid served on various administrative positions in DUET such as Head of the department; Provost; Associate Director, Students’ Welfare; Assistant Provost. He participated in different conferences, workshops, seminars, training programs and technical talks. He contributed in national level as an expert member of different government and private organization. Dr. Shahid is a syndicate member of Bangladesh University of Textiles; a life fellow of the Institution of Engineering Bangladesh (IEB); a life member of The Institute of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET), Bangladesh; a life member of Bangladesh Physical Society (BPS); a founder Secretary, Society of Textile Research and Innovation, Bangladesh (STRIB). His research areas include Textile & Clothing Science; Smart & Medical Textiles; Fiber & Polymer Composites; and Nanofiber Synthesis & Analysis.
Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Textile Engineering and Fashion Designing at the World University of Bangladesh, in addition to being the head of the curriculum committee. At present, Mr. Rahman is a Ph.D. Fellow of the department of textile engineering, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET). Md. Mostafizur Rahman graduated from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Textile Technology. He completed the Master of Science in Textile Engineering from Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University. Mr. Rahman also served as the chairman of the Program Self-Assessment Committee, Department of Textile Engineering in 2017 -18 under the higher education quality enhancement project (HEQEP) of the University Grants Commission and has enough experience to design and review the OBE curriculum, course profile, assessment strategy and also overlooks the activities and professional development of faculty members. He has authored 21 journal articles and many book chapters with Wiley – Scrivener and Springer Nature. His research encompasses smart textiles, wearable electronics, medicinal textiles, the impact of ultraviolet protection coatings, and natural polymer-based composites. Mr. Rahman is a member of the Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB).
Md Tanvir Hossain is a PhD student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Michigan Technological University, MI 49931, USA, where he also serves as a Graduate Research Assistant. Mr. Hossain earned his Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering in 2022, followed by a Master of Science in Textile Engineering from DUET in 2024. His research is focused on advancing the field of biodegradable cardiovascular stents, polymer coatings, and functional textiles, reflecting his commitment to innovation and excellence in materials science.
Mr. Imam Hossain holds a B.Sc. in Textile Engineering and is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Textile Engineering at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur, Bangladesh. He completed his diploma in Textile Engineering from Dinajpur Textile Institute, Dinajpur, Bangladesh, in 2018. Mr. Hossain served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Textile Engineering at DUET from January 1, 2024, to May 1, 2024. He has also worked as a Lecturer at the BGIFT Institute of Science and Technology, Gazipur. Currently, alongside his academic pursuits, he is serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Textile Engineering at Northern University Bangladesh.
Md. Sohan Sheikh is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Textile Engineering from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, World University of Bangladesh. He has been acting as the Vice President of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) Society World University of Bangladesh Chapter from June 2024 to now and Research and Extension Secretary of Textile Club, World University of Bangladesh from January 2024 to now. He also served as the Head of Executives in Textile Club from January 2022 to December 2023. He was also an Affiliate Campus Ambassador from June 2022 to Now. He completed Workshops in 2023 on Public Speaking at the World University of Bangladesh. He participated Textile Olympiad at Bangladesh Textile Engineering University and his position is 5th. He was a Research Fellow At the Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission. He working now on 5 technical projects. His research interests field composite materials, smart textiles, piezoelectric materials, and flexible electronics, Environmental science.
Md. Sunjidur Rahman  is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Textile Engineering from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, World University of Bangladesh. He has been serving as the Textile Club's Finance Secretary at the World University of Bangladesh since January 2024. He was also the Textile Club's Executive from January 2022 until December 2023. He served as an Affiliate Campus Ambassador from June 2023 to the present. He finished the World University of Bangladesh's Public Speaking Workshops in 2023. He placed tenth at the Bangladesh Textile Engineering University's Textile Olympiad. He has two technological initiatives underway. He is interested in flexible electronics, smart fabrics, and composite materials.
Nasir Uddin  is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Textile Engineering from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, World University of Bangladesh. Since January 2024, he has served as the World University of Bangladesh's Textile Club's executive member. From January 2022 to December 2023, he also held the position of Executive in the Textile Club. In addition, he served as a textile affiliate campus ambassador from June 2022 to the present. In 2023, he finished the World University of Bangladesh's Public Speaking Workshops. He placed eighth in the Bangladesh Textile Engineering University's Textile Olympiad. He has three technical initiatives underway. His areas of interest in research are flexible electronics, smart textiles, and composite materials.
Dr. Scott Donne is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He has over 25 years combined industrial and academic experience researching materials for energy storage systems, including batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells, as well as considerable environmental research experience. He obtained his PhD in 1996 from the University of Newcastle. This was followed by stints at the University of California, Santa Barbara (2 years as a post-doctoral researcher), and Eveready Battery Company (4 years as a Staff Technology Engineer), both in the USA. He has also been a visiting professor at the University of Nantes, France, Beijing Institute of Technology, China, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Most recently, he was a Fulbright Senior Scholar, enabling him to visit Argonne National Laboratory and the University of California, Los Angeles, both in the USA. In terms of academic outcomes, Professor Donne has published 4 book chapters, 200+ peer reviewed journal articles, 12 patents, as well as made 170+ presentations at international conferences, many of which were invited. He has also supervised 14 postdoctoral researchers, 6 research assistants, 50 postgraduate students, 18 Masters students, and 31 final year Honours students to successful project outcomes. Currently, Prof. Scott serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the Electrochemical Society (since 2018).
