Dr. Keykavous Parang is currently a full professor at Chapman University School of Pharmacy and Schmid College of Science and Technology in Irvine, California. He is also an affiliated faculty member of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, School of Medicine, at the University of
California, Irvine. Dr. Parang earned his Pharm.D. degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1989. Then, he received his Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Alberta, Canada, in 1997, followed by a postdoctoral study in the Department of Chemistry. Dr. Parang pursued additional postdoctoral studies in bioorganic chemistry at Rockefeller University in New York and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He joined the College of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island in October 2000 and became a full professor in July 2008. Dr. Parang served as Associate Dean of
Research, Graduate Studies, and Global Affairs (June 2013-January 2020) and Associate Dean of Research, Innovation, and Global Affairs (June 2020–March 2022) at the Chapman University School of Pharmacy and developed M.S. and Ph.D. programs. Dr. Parang's contributions have resulted in 246 peer-reviewed publications, 24 issued or pending patents, and 201 meeting abstracts. In addition to mentoring
many faculty, he has supervised 25 postdoctoral fellows or visiting scientists, 32 graduate students, including 13 Ph.D. and 19 M.S. students, and 60 undergraduate students.
