Zehra Sahin-Ilkorkor, MIA, is a doctoral student in public policy and administration at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, Virginia Commonwealth University. Her research is rooted in the intersection of social and education policy. Sarah Jane Brubaker, Ph.D., is a sociologist and professor of criminal justice and public policy at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. She directs a post-baccalaureate Certificate in Gender Violence Intervention and teaches and conducts research about gender violence and girls in the juvenile justice system, framing her work through feminist, intersectional, trauma-informed and social justice lenses. She has received federal and state grants to both provide and evaluate services to young people and staff involved in the juvenile justice system and to prevent violence against women on college
