Prof. Dr. Marius Nel is a research professor and has occupied the Chair of Ecumenism: Pentecostalism and Neo-Pentecostalism since December 2016 at the Unit for Reformed Theology of the Faculty of Theology at the Potchefstroom campus of North-West University. He has been a pastor of the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa for thirty-five years, working in congregations in Gauteng and Limpopo Province. He specialises in apocalypticism in the Old and New Testament, the history of the Pentecostal movement and the study of its doctrine. He is a C2 NRF-rated researcher. Since he has been employed at NWU, he has published on pacifism, eschatology, the LGBTIQ+ issue and prosperity theology, all from the perspective of pentecostal hermeneutics.
