Maria Nicolina Ripa is a Full Professor at the Department of Agricultural
and Forestry Sciences (DAFNE) at the University of Tuscia, Viterbo. She is at
present carrying on the following projects: “Eye-Land: A crowd-sensing geospatial database
for the monitoring of rural areas”, with the role of Principal Investigator funded
by the Italian Ministry of University and Research; Horizon Europe project “EUROLakes
- European Natural Lakes: Demonstration of Integrated Approaches for the
Protection and Restoration of Natural Lake Ecosystems and Their Biodiversity”
with the role of Scientific Coordinator
for the University of Tuscia's Research Unit. She has published more than 100
papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings. Her
teaching disciplines include Landscape analysis and planning, Geomatics and
Remote Sensing and her interests include landscape analysis and planning
through the use of digital cartography and remote sensing, ecosystem/landscape
services, rural land planning, Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for urban water
management and microclimate control, assessment of the environmental impacts of
agricultural activities, diffuse pollution sources, and Best Management
Practices (BMP) for the protection of rural areas.
