Professor and scientist in the Area of Prospecting and Mining Research at the School of Mining Engineering of the University of León. He holds a degree in Geological Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and a PhD in Geosciences from the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands). He has a Master's Degree in Secondary Education (UNIR), a Master's Degree in Scientific Communication from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona, and another Master's Degree in rhetoric and oratory (UNIR). He specialises in the study of gold deposits and mining technology in Roman times. His lines of research are directed towards the study of glacial geomorphology, mining of gold and iron deposits, geoarchaeology, structural geology and alpine tectonics and heritage documentation through the use of new technologies, such as terrestrial and airborne lasers (LiDAR), drones and terrestrial photogrammetry. The author is a pilot and drone operator certified by the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA). His scientific work has been recognised with several International Research Grants and Awards. He has published more than 80 scientific articles in high-impact international and national journals, along with several books on various branches of geology and mining heritage. He combines his research activity with scientific dissemination in newspapers, radio and TV.
