Dr. Massimo Pacella is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering for Innovation, University of Salento, Italy. He holds an MSc degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Lecce, Italy and a PhD in Manufacturing and Production Systems from the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy. He was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship and has served as a research scholar at the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering, University of Michigan, USA. The primary focus of Dr. Pacella's research lies in the domain of functional data processing and profile monitoring, encompassing both applied and methodological aspects of machine learning and statistical modeling, in addition to engineering principles. These research interests are primarily applied in the manufacturing and automotive industries. Throughout his career, Dr. Pacella was involved in various Scientific Projects with broad applications in manufacturing and production system management. He was also involved in various research projects funded by industrial companies. Dr. Pacella is a member of the Italian Association for Manufacturing Technology (AITeM) and is serving as an Associate Editor of IISE Transactions on Data Science, Quality & Reliability.
