Ali Baheri is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology. He also leads the Safe AI Lab at the same institute. His lab focuses on research at the intersection of autonomy, controls, and machine learning. Prior to his current position, he was a visiting scholar at Stanford Intelligent Systems Laboratory (SISL) and an assistant professor (in the research track) at West Virginia University. Ali Baheri completed a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Ph.D. specializing in machine learning and control theory at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He then worked at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor as a postdoctoral researcher. His research interests include reinforcement learning, Bayesian optimization, machine learning, decision-making under uncertainty, autonomous systems, robotics, and energy systems.
