Prof. Tongqiang Xia is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Low Carbon Energy and Power Engineering at the China University of Mining and Technology. He is also the director of the Institute of Mine Safety, Energy Conservation, and Environmental Protection and the vice president of the Mine Intelligent Ventilation Research Center. He received his MSc in Safety Technology and Engineering (2012) and PhD in Engineering Mechanics (2015) from the China University of Mining and Technology. He has won the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award from the China University of Mining and Technology and the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and he was awarded the National Coal Youth Science and Technology Award, the Third Level of Jiangsu Province’s 333 Program, and the title of High-Level Talent of Jiangsu Province’s Six Talent Peaks. His research interests include fluid mechanics and artificial intelligence, multi-field coupling mechanisms of geothermal resource development, mine fluid risk identification and intelligent pre-control, nonlinear seepage mechanics and engineering applications, and coalbed methane resource assessment and development.
