Dr. Michelle Jayman is a chartered psychologist and has a strong
foundation in education, having extensive experience working in schools.
She is a founder member and convenor of the BERA Mental Health,
Wellbeing, and Education Special Interest Group and a champion
for the British Psychological Society's Education Section. Dr. Jayman’s
main research interests include the mental health and well-being of children
and young people and programs and interventions to improve student
outcomes. Her research topics cover mental health and well-being for
learners and staff in educational settings, socio-emotional
interventions and technology in learning contexts.
Dr. Maria Gudbrandsen received her PhD in Clinical Neuroscience at the same
institution, where she worked as a researcher from 2010 to 2021 and taught in
the MSc Clinical Neurodevelopmental Sciences program. Dr. Gudbrandsen has
extensive expertise in neurodiversity and special educational needs and
mentored a diverse student population. Her research primarily focuses on
neurodevelopmental disorders and genetic deletions/duplications, with a
particular emphasis on mental health and well-being in individuals with
22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2DS) within educational settings. She is
dedicated to raising awareness of 22q11.2DS and has significantly contributed
to the field in the UK. Her research topics mainly include neurodevelopmental
disorders, 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, ASD and mental health in educational
contexts.
