Dr. Simon R. Turner is the Tom Williams Endowed Chair in
Surgical Education and an Associate Professor in the Division of Thoracic
Surgery, Department of Surgery, University of Alberta, Canada, where he holds
the positions of Research Director and Residency Program Director. Dr. Turner
completed his General Surgery Residency Program in 2013 from the University of
Alberta, Thoracic Surgery Fellowship from the University of British Columbia in
2016, and Advanced Thoracic Surgical Oncology Fellowship from Memorial Sloan
Kettering Cancer Center in 2017. His research primarily focuses on competence
assessment in surgical education, competency-based medical education, thoracic
surgery, surgical education, lung cancer, Invasive Mediastinal Staging, and
stigma.
