Maricar Aguilos is an Assistant Research Professor at the
Forestry and Environmental Resources Department of North Carolina State
University, Raleigh, NC, USA. She was a former researcher at the French
National Institute for Agricultural Research, France, working mainly on the
carbon and water dynamics in the Amazonian Forest of French Guiana. She
finished her PhD in Environmental Science at Hokkaido University, Japan. She
focused on ecosystem carbon and water fluxes in disturbed ecosystems, pine
plantations, bioenergy sites, and wetlands. She also has a background in soil
carbon measurements using automated soil respiration chambers.
Steve McNulty is a Senior Research Ecologist and the Director
of the USDA Southeast Regional Climate Hub, which is part of the USDA Forest
Service Eastern Threat Center. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in
forestry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Ph.D. in natural
resources from the University of New Hampshire-Durham. He has over 30 years of
experience in the study of climate change impacts on forest ecosystems from the
watershed to continental scale, with a focus on adaptation management of forest
growth and nutrient and water management using modeling and field experimentation.
He received the Forest Service National Research and Development “Distinguished
Science Award” in recognition of sustained research productivity, proactive
science technology, innovative leadership, applied forest science, and
long-time federal service.
