Dr. Aivars Cīrulis is a docent (assistant professor) at the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, University of Latvia, and a researcher at the Laboratory of Microbiology and Pathology, Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment "BIOR." He completed his PhD in genetics at Lund University and was awarded three Jörgen Lindströms Stipendiefond scholarships. He has published several papers in various journals and is a member of the Latvian Biochemical Society and the Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution. His teaching disciplines include statistics, neurobiology, and current problems in biology, and his interests include statistics, bioinformatics, genomics, the evolution of sex differences, and microorganisms.
