Dr. Mircea Adrian Focsa is an Associate Professor of Medical Informatics and Biostatistics at Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timisoara, Romania. He graduated from medical school in 1995, earned an M.Sc. in Medical Informatics in 2001, and completed his Ph.D. in 2007 with a dissertation on “Quality Certification of EHR Systems.” As a Public Health and Healthcare Management specialist, he has contributed extensively to developing clinical information systems, focusing on ontology design and medical algorithm implementation. Dr. Focsa led Romania's interoperability group for health services and is the founding President of Prorec Romania, working with EuroRec to promote certified EHR systems across Europe. He also facilitated the implementation of Romania's first Patient Recruitment System for clinical trials linked to Clinerion's global network.
Since 2017, he has been a European expert on eHealth initiatives like the COST, CEF-Telecom, and Horizon projects. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Medical Internet Research. His research covers gastroenterology, neurology, cardiology, and public health, resulting in numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and conference presentations, collectively receiving over 900 citations.
