Chamila Gunasekara holds a Ph.D. in Construction Material Engineering from RMIT
University, Australia, and is currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of
Engineering, RMIT University. Chamila Gunasekara is also a member of the Concrete
Institute of Australia. Chamila Gunasekara’s primary research interests are
focused on the creation of novel solutions for construction materials
incorporating numerous waste materials and digital technologies, and enhancing
sustainability in construction by creating a smart built environment using
information and communications technology. Chamila Gunasekara's main research interests include
geopolymer concrete, concrete technology; material characterisation, reclaimed waste
resources to engineered materials; concrete durability, electrochemical
monitoring, and non-destructive testing; digital engineering for
sustainability; concrete structures, behaviour, condition assessment; environmental
impact assessment, and whole-life costs of concrete infrastructure.
Dilan Robert is an associate professor and the Head of the Department of Civil &
Infrastructure Engineering at RMIT University. He obtained his B.Sc.
Engineering Honours (1st Class and Gold Medallist) from the University of
Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2005 and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Cambridge,
UK, in 2011. Prior to his role at RMIT, he worked for 2 years as a Geotechnical
Engineer in the UK and 2 years as a Research Fellow at Monash University,
Australia. He is also the Director of Research and Education at the Centre for
Pavement Excellence Asia Pacific Ltd and a Fellow of the Australia-India Strategic
Research Fund (AISRF). His research areas include pipelines, road pavements,
soil stabilization, waste recycling, soil-structure interaction analysis,
offshore geotechnics, unsaturated soils, constitutive modelling of soil and
concrete, and corrosion assessment of buried metals.
