Prof. Dr. Tomasz M. Karpiński is the Head of the Department of Medical Microbiology at Poznań University of Medical Sciences (PUMS), Poland. He graduated with a DDS from PUMS, studied Biology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, completed Postgraduate Studies in Laboratory Medicine at PUMS, and Internet and mobile technologies at the Poznań University of Technology. He holds a specialization in Medical Microbiology. He has been an academic teacher since 2007. Prof. Karpiński is an editorial member of 10 journals, a guest editor of 11 special issues and a reviewer for more than 100 journals. He is invited to give lectures at numerous conferences and is a recipient of multiple awards. He is a member of many scientific councils and societies. He coordinates research projects and his interests include the human microbiome, oral microbiota, Helicobacter pylori, Herpesviridae, tick-borne pathogens, antiseptics, antimicrobial activity of plant compounds and bee products. He is an expert in antiseptics, a co-author of wound treatment guidelines, and creator of the Karpinski Adaptation Index (KAI). He is an author or co-author of more than 120 scientific articles with total IF about 400. Since 2020, he has been ranked in the global TOP 2% of scientists according to Stanford University.
