Dr. Yasser Maghsoudi is a senior lecturer at the University of Exeter, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. He received his PhD in Radar Remote Sensing at the University of Calgary, Canada, in 2012. His primary research interest is in radar remote sensing, with a focus on utilizing Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data for diverse applications such as geohazard monitoring, land deformation, sinkhole and slow-moving landslide detection, environmental studies, and infrastructure monitoring. Before joining Exeter, Yasser was a member of the Centre for the Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics (COMET) at the University of Leeds, where he led the development of a global ground deformation monitoring service called COMET-LiCSAR. This involved implementing an automated satellite-based processing system to deliver Sentinel-1 InSAR data for monitoring global tectonic and volcanic regions as well as geohazards.
