Associate Prof. Muge Unal is a distinguished researcher and scholar specializing in landscape architecture and urban planning. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Çukurova University in 2012 and completed her Ph.D. at the same institution in 2021. Currently, she holds the position of Associate Professor at Firat University, where she has participated in numerous research projects and collaborations, including a postdoc position at Arizona State University within the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Her research primarily focuses on GIS-based accessibility analysis, urban green space optimization, and modeling relationships between public green spaces and thermal comfort, particularly in urban settings. The impact of her academic work is evident through the high number of citations it has received, demonstrating her significance in the discipline. With over 30 publications in renowned international journals and conferences, her work has significantly enhanced the understanding of urban heat islands and the effectiveness of green spaces in improving environmental quality.
Ahmet Cilek holds an MSc and a PhD in Landscape Architecture, specialising in Environmental and Landscape Planning, both from Çukurova University. He is an Associate Professor in the same department and is affiliated with the Division of Remote Sensing and GIS. He has also conducted postdoctoral research at Arizona State University, contributing to urban climate resilience and sustainability studies. His extensive work in geographic information science, urban climate modelling, and climate resilience has led to numerous publications, presentations, and academic contributions. His research interests include remote sensing, agricultural landscapes, urban greening, cultural ecosystem services, sustainable water and soil management, and community-based climate adaptation.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senem Tekin completed her undergraduate degree at Çukurova University in 2009. She pursued her master’s studies in Geological Engineering at the same institution, graduating in 2014 with a thesis titled “Landslide Susceptibility Assessment of Kadirli-Aslantaş (Osmaniye) Region Based on GIS.” In 2019, she completed her Ph.D. with a dissertation on “Geomorphometric Analysis of Göksu River Basin Using GIS and Quantitative Landslide Hazard Assessment.” She earned her "Earth Sciences and Engineering" associate professorship in February 2022. Dr. Tekin is the Head of the Mining and Mineral Extraction Department at Adıyaman University's Vocational School of Technical Sciences and directs the Center for Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing. She has contributed as a researcher to numerous projects funded by the European Union, TÜBİTAK, and other public institutions.
