Andre Bovell is currently the Director of Pharmacy, Prevention, Nutrition and Statistics at a statutory organization solely devoted to managing eleven chronic noncommunicable diseases. He brings to his position a wealth of knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharmacy management, procurement and inventory management, and epidemiology. He is a member of the Working Group for the Establishment of the National Cancer Registry in Antigua and Barbuda. Andre holds qualifications in Pharmacy, Management, and Epidemiology. He is a graduate of the Universities of Guyana and the University of London, UK. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. His current research area focuses on the epidemiological and economic burden of four common cancers in Antigua and Barbuda. This work takes account of incidence, trends, patterns and survival analysis of female breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancers. It also provides current evidence on
the economic burden of these diseases by way of a cost-of-illness analysis from the prevalence-based provider perspective. This work encompasses the period 2017-2021 and utilizes data abstracted from four key study sites in Antigua and Barbuda. Other research interests include work on ageing, diabetes epidemiology and infectious disease epidemiology, and mentoring in the Caribbean Regional Field Epidemiology Training Program (Levels 1/2). Andre enjoys helping people achieve their potential.
