The research lines he has developed deal with the ecology of marine protected areas and artificial reefs, participating in design, creation, and monitoring projects, the analysis of anthropic impacts in key marine ecosystems, the environmental effects of open-sea aquaculture, and ecosystem modeling as a tool to assess the effects of ecological processes and anthropogenic activities. He has participated as a researcher in 60 research projects, 5 of them funded by the EU (2 of which as principal investigator).
