Dr. Roozbeh Shirazi is Associate Professor of Comparative and International Education in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development at the University of Minnesota. He completed his Ph.D. in Comparative and International Education with a disciplinary specialization in Political Science at Teachers College, Columbia University. His research interests include critical refugee studies, comparative education, cultural studies, critical pedagogy, formations of youth political subjectivities, and ethnic studies. His scholarship on these issues unfolds comparatively and transnationally across Southwest Asia and North Africa, North America, and Europe. As a former public-school educator, his research engages youth and educators in critical inquiry and knowledge co-construction across multiple languages in formal and informal learning spaces. He is particularly invested in supporting the sociopolitical learning and community engagement of diasporic youth from Southwest Asian and North African communities.
