Dr. Hui Su is a Global STEM Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, HKUST. She also works as Chair Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and at the Department of Ocean Science and Division of Environment and Sustainability; also, she is the Executive Director of the Space Science and Technology Institute. She obtained a PhD Degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington and a B.Sc. from Beijing University. She was a principal scientist and weather discipline program manager at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory before joining the HKUST. She received the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal in 2010 and again in 2022, as well as a number of awards at JPL. She is an Editor of Geophysical Research Letters and a fellow of the American Meteorological Society. Her research interests primarily center on tropical convection and climate change.
