Dr. Melanie Waldenberger holds a Bachelor's in Biology and a Master’s in Public Health. In 2009, she received her doctorate in Natural Sciences from the Technical University of Munich. She then worked as a postdoc researcher at the Research Unit Molecular Epidemiology, Institute for Epidemiology, Helmholtz Zentrum München. Since 2012, she has headed her own research group called “Complex Diseases”. Dr. Waldenberger's research is primarily focused on the molecular analysis of complex diseases, such as cardiovascular and metabolic conditions, and their intermediate phenotypes. Melanie has experience in conducting high-throughput genotyping and genome-wide methylation projects. Her research group uses epidemiological methods to study the complex interplay between molecular mechanisms and environmental factors in the context of the onset and progression of disease.
