Author Biographies

Carolyn Brooks, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan. Her research specializes in theoretical criminology and intimate partner violence. Dr. Brooks is the co-editor of Critical Perspectives on Social Control and Social Regulation in Canada (with Mitch Daschuk and James Popham) and has co-edited three editions of Marginality and Condemnation: A Critical Introduction to Criminology (with Bernard Schissel). She earned her PhD from the University of Saskatchewan in 2009.
Colleen Anne Dell received her PhD in Sociology from Carleton University in 2001. She worked as as Assistant and then Associate Professor at Carleton University (2001-2007). In 2007, she moved to the University of Saskatchewan and was promoted to Professor in 2012. She held the position of Research Chair in Substance Abuse from 2007-2016, and Research Chair in One Health and Wellness from 2016-current. Her research topics mainly include community-based research, animal-associated human services, and Indigenous health.
